Rutherford County Schools 2024-25 calendar sets full Thanksgiving week break
Rutherford County Schools will continue to provide a full week off for Thanksgiving for the 2024-25 academic year.
The current calandeer started the new approach of being off Monday through Friday for the coming Thanksgiving.
Rutherford County Board of Education member Tammy Sharp said many families enjoy having more time to celebrate Thanksgiving.
The board approved the calendar for the 2024-25 academic year on Oct. 12. The year will start with a two-hour registration day on Aug. 7 followed by the first full school day on Aug. 8.
The 2024-25 calendar also will provide students with full weeks off for Fall Break Oct. 7-11 and Spring Break March 31-April 4.
Students will enjoy a Winter Break that stretches more than two weeks in 2024-25 starting after a two-hour abbreviated school day on Dec. 20 on a Friday. They’ll return Jan. 8 on a Wednesday.
The 2024-25 calendar includes many single day breaks that will provide three-day weekends, including for Labor Day, Sept. 2 on Monday; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 20 on Monday; Presidents’ Day, Feb. 17 on a Monday; Good Friday, April 18; and Memorial Day, May 26 on a Monday.
Other single day breaks in 2024-24 will be Sept. 17 on a Tuesday for a teacher administrative day; Nov. 5 for Election Day on a Tuesday; Jan. 28 for teacher administration day on a Tuesday; March 13 for teacher administration day on a Thursday; and May 29 for a teacher workday on a Thursday.
The 2024-25 school year will end with a two-hour abbreviated day May 30 on a Friday.
